Sydney Skybetter is an expert in choreorobotics, a portmanteau of choreography and robotics. Choreorobotics considers how bodies in motion - human or otherwise - move through space and time to generate meaning. In his piece Clock, Fall, Skybetter dives into the relationships between dance history, emerging technologies of embodied artificial intelligence, and next-generation space habitations. He will cover topics ranging from Boston Dynamics robots, Tesla’s “Party Mode” and Optimus robots, parasitic aesthetic theory, the movie M3GAN, microgravity performance and a little bit of Beyoncé.
This lecture will take place at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), at the School of Theater, Film & Television, Center for Performance Studies. The venue is Kaufman Hall, Room 208.
